Created from wood to replicate the sound and feel of the original Middle Eastern games, Alexandra Llewellyn Design harmonises perfect geometry for play with visually stunning, hand crafted and painted pieces that interpret yet another phase of the Backgammon's vast tradition.
Inside – Dark walnut backgammon board with a cream ground and photographic feathers, 15 layers of hand-applied lacquer. Compartments are lined in black leather.
Outside – Dark walnut with nickel hinges and nickel sliding fastenings.
Playing pieces are weighted then veneered in dark walnut and a natural laurel burr and then lacquered (46mm x 11mm), doubling die is laurel burr (46mm x 46mm), dice cups are dark walnut and lined in black leather with inside lips to ensure fair and random rolls of the precision laser cut dice.
The board is tournament sized and measures 59 cm x 76 cm x 5 cm when open. There are also endless bespoke possibilities available for both design and materials. Please enquire. For these made-to-measure commissions please note that the delivery time frame is 8-12 weeks.
