Hannah Martin
Black Pearl Spur Pendant
GBP 780
London jewellery designer Hannah Martin is a self-proclaimed collector of all things beautiful, luxurious and, just to mix it up, even the somewhat macabre. Her unique twist on the well-established fine jewellery world is to create masculine pieces for men - that are also in danger of being stolen by their in-the-know girlfriends. With Martin’s touch, cufflinks and signet rings become contemporary collectibles, as gold spurs finish tough, black Akoya pearl necklaces. Having trained at Central St Martins, she founded the brand in 2005, after a stint at Cartier in Paris’ Place Vendôme.
Each tactile piece is made by hand using London’s finest craftsmen - both in Martin’s Clerkenwell studio and through an intricate network of specialists in Hatton Garden (the centre of London’s jewellery trade).
This black spur pearl necklace subverts the connotations of a classic pearl necklace and teams enigmatic black pearls with the fiercely sculptural black spur.
Only 500 of these will ever be made.
This necklace is made from 16 g of solid sterling silver and hangs from a string of black Akoya pearls, traditionally knotted with grey silk thread. The pendant was originally hand-carved in wax.
Size: 50 mm x 8 mm (spur), 80 cm (chain length), approximately 4 mm (pearl size).
